It was wonderful to work with Janna and Alfonso recently on their Houston wedding. The preparations began at the beautiful and historic Magnolia Hotel in Downtown Houston. Photographing the bride and the groom preparing for a wedding is one of my favorite parts of the day. I love the excitement in the air. It creates great moments that are best captured using my photojournalistic wedding style. I think that using a documentary style to photographs weddings is the best way to go. Reactions are very natural and you can really get great, honest photographs that record those special moments and preserve them. The wedding ceremony was at the St. Anne Catholic Church in Houston. This is a grand style church with magnificent architecture. The couple had their wedding reception in an intimate setting at the BRC GastroPub. This small venue gave people a real change to socialize and to congratulate the newlywed couple. There was some surprise entertainment at the reception by a full Mariachi band. There was lots of great food and everyone had fun. Sometimes, I really prefer these smaller wedding groups to the larger ones. With a smaller group it gives me time to really get to know the bride and groom and their families.
